RIQUEÑO

A bilingual poetic musical play in three-acts, RIQUEÑO explores Puerto Rican identity and its progression through history (the Hispanic-American War, the current Diaspora, and the future after hurricane María).

Riqueño was co-produced by Paint Theatre and the Nuyorican Poets Cafe in July 2018, with grant support from the Puffin Foundation, and Carnegie Mellon University's Modern Languages and BXA departments.

 

The play was developed in parts at Carnegie Mellon's School of Drama's Playground Festival (2016, 2017); and created through Carnegie Mellon's SURF Fellowship.
